Air Gun Safety
Tips for Airgun and BB Gun Safety
The first thing to do when you have a BB gun or air rifle,
is to check if it is loaded or not. This is the first tip
for your safety. You will not have any way to check if it
is loaded if the gun doesn't have a bolt. So the second
tip to give you is not to point your airgun or bb gun at anybody!
People sometimes think that a BB gun cannot cause injuries. That
is not correct. It is a device capable of firing a missile. Any missile
can injure the same as someone throwing a stone can injure.
You want to avoid accidentally causing your gun to go off,
so never climb trees, fences or jump with a gun.
It is vital to never shoot at a flat surface, hard
surface or at the water. Doing this - may cause the
BB to ricochet and hit something that it was not intended to hit.
When target shooting, be sure of what is behind the target.
Always ensure that there is something to stop the BB or air gun
pellet, such as a hill or pile of sand.
The area where you will practice must be checked before
a shoot is made. Be aware of animals or persons that can
walk in front of the target, you might hurt or break
something with your gun.
During your beginner practices use a shooting range and
wear shooting glasses until you are sure about how to
use the gun. To contract the services of a teacher is
always a good idea or better still join a club.
To use a gun, you must respect the other's property and
of course to act on a responsible way. You cannot walk
through a property with a gun.
Be sure to always act responsibly and to respect the
property of others. Never aim a gun at a person or someone
elses property. This is true for any gun, including an
Airsoft gun.
The most important safety tip, is to consider that a gun
is not a toy and is able to cause damage.
